Let's Talk Insurance

As of January 2021, I will be considered an "out of network provider" with all insurance companies. I am happy to provide you with all of the information you need to submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement of services!  Have more questions about how to handle insurance with an out of network provider? Keep reading!

How does out of network billing work?

If you wish to use your insurance, you will be responsible for paying the full service fee at the time of our appointment.  I will then provide you with a "superbill" to send to your insurance company directly, because many insurance companies offer out of network benefits and partial reimbursement to cover services by providers who are not on their panels, but still offer an essential and important service.  I encourage you to contact your insurance company ahead of time to find out what your out of network benefits are with your specific plan!

Why don't you accept insurance?

First and foremost, I value your confidentiality above all else.  Submitting to insurance companies requires that I assign you or your child a diagnosis that then gets permanently linked to your medical record.  That doesn't always feel appropriate or necessary, and for some it can feel intrusive and even stigmatizing.  Insurance companies can also request to see session notes and know details of our confidential work together at any time if they are directly reimbursing for my services.

Additionally, insurance companies can choose which services to reimburse for and which services not to with very little explanation as to why.  For me to do my best work and engage in the most evidence based practice possible, I require the flexibility to meet with parents and family from time to time, or extend our session time, or even to meet multiple times in one week if there is an imminent need, which are all things that insurance frequently will not reimburse for.

Individual sessions are $190 per 50 minute session.

I do have several "sliding scale" appointments available for individuals and families who require more financial flexibility.  If cost is a concern or a barrier for you getting the help you or your child needs, please talk to me about this with me when you call.

Remember, therapy is an investment in yourself or your child.  Think about all of the ways in which you are already investing in yourself and your family: Do you have a gym membership? Do you treat yourself to a cup of coffee regularly? Do you pay for music lessons or athletics for your child?

Now ask yourself: why isn't your mental health just as important (if not more important) than all of those things?  You are worth investing in!  Call today!

I accept cash, check, HSA/FSA and all major credit cards as forms of payment
